Seasons Change

I hate summer. There, I said it. Heat and crowds. No thanks. Having said that, I enjoy the change of season and the magic each quarter year brings…even summer. In autumn it’s the colorful leaves, cooler weather and pumpkin spiced everything. Holiday lights, coats and rain boots bring joy in winter. Spring has a gardens full of beautiful flowers, chirping birds and perfect outdoor weather. And then there’s summer.

It’s the middle of May now and as I carefully hold on to the last days of spring I’m reminded of the taste of hot temperatures that have already briefly visited us. But with the fear and trepidation comes the excitement of the bounty of fresh tomatoes, cucumbers and squash that will grace us with its presence over the coming months. And the no jacket nights in the backyard. Yes, I’m forced to wake up early for morning dog walks before the blistering summer heat sets in. Is that such a bad thing? I’m also forced to get creative to keep little ones away from their iPads. Again probably not the end of the world. Summer is uncomfortable (for me). However from discomfort comes growth. So here’s to becoming a better person in the coming months. And to taking time during a time I loathe to look forward to who I’ll become when pumpkin spice latte season rolls around again.
